French Bread Workshop

A simple, stone-baked baguette is one of life’s greatest pleasures. In this workshop, you will learn the art of making pain à l’ancienne – the flavoursome, old fashioned dough which is the secret to a really good baguette. The French wouldn’t dream of eating anything less! Having mastered the dough, we will go on to perfect the shaping and scoring of baguettes and épis de blé. We will also cover the shaping of simple batards, filling our petits pains with delicious savouries such as tapenade or slow roasted garlic & rosemary. We'll also make fougasse and traditional pain de mie, a tender crumbed semi-enriched dough, to complete the set of French bread-making know-how!
